Political Analyst Believes Donald Trump Is “Desperate” To Testify At His Impeachment Hearing Because He Wants To Have His “Few Good Men” Moment

I wish he would!

We recently reported that Democrats heading Donald Trump’s impeachment trial have requested to hear the story from the horse’s mouth, sending an official request for the former president’s testimony under oath during his upcoming impeachment trial. As we expected, Donald’s attorneys (the ones he’s got left anyway) responded to the request with a letter chock full of conspiracy theory garbage, in which they didn’t outright say that Trump wouldn’t be showing up to his trial with his testimony in tow, but they heavily implied as much.

We pretty much knew that no attorney in their right mind was going to let the likes of Donald Trump up on a witness stand in his not first, but second impeachment trial in Congress. However, that may not be stopping Donnie from really wanting to do it anyway.

There is a quote from the movie, A Few Good Men, where Colonel Nathan Jessup declares “You’re goddamn right, I did!!” when asked if he “ordered the Code Red.”

According to popular political analyst John Heilemann, Donald Trump is “desperate” for a moment just like this that’s all his own.

In an appearance with MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace, Heilemann said, “The president has been convinced not to appear and that that is the strategy that they are pursuing and they see his appearance not only as not helpful but potentially harmful.”

“On the other hand, we know Donald Trump. And so, is your question, which was, is there — does Donald Trump give any consideration to appearing?” the analyst added, before giving his counterpoint. “Donald Trump is desperate to appear. He’s Nathan Jessup in A Few Good Men. He wants to get in there. Of course, he ordered the code red, Nicole. He knows he wanted to see the March on the Capitol, and he wants to tell us all that he wanted to see the march on the Capitol, these people were doing exactly what he wanted.”

“He is going to, at every moment of this trial, be — they’re going to have to tie him down with leg irons and restraints to keep him from wanting to get on a plane and get up to Washington, D.C., or to get in front of a satellite hook-up and be on air because Donald Trump believes more than anything else, he believes in himself, and in his ability to persuade anyone of anything, and that he is always in the right, so it’s going to be — how we end up, I don’t know. But do I think every day is going to be — every hour, every minute — is going to be a constant struggle to keep Donald Trump from testifying? I do,” Heilemann explained.

At the end of the day, Donald Trump is a private citizen with the right to testify in his own defense. But boooooooyyyyy, would that be a horrible idea. I say do it!
