President Joe Biden and White House Domestic Policy Council Director Susan Rice participated in a roundtable discussion with Black essential workers on Tuesday. It’s nice to have a president with a healthy sense of humor again after four very long years with Donald J. Trump in the White House. And those were horrifying years. Like, last year, for example, when the pandemic was rocking our country without much leadership at the top, Trump floated the idea of using disinfectants and sunlight to treat COVID-19 patients while speaking at a coronavirus briefing.
Trump tried to walk those remarks back after a backlash ensued — because really, none of us want to shoot up bleach. His remarks were so jaw-dropping that some companies and state agencies issued warnings about ingesting disinfectants. The cleaning product giant Lysol said in a statement that “under no circumstance” should its products be used in the human body.
Well, President Joe Biden took a jab at Trump over his predecessor’s remarks that caused a firestorm of attention.
Speaking with Black essential workers, Biden said, “I can’t tell you how much a difference you’re making. We have met with people all over the country…I think there’s a growing awareness that injecting bleach into your system doesn’t do it for you.”

President Biden has been laser-focused on the coronavirus that has taken over five hundred thousand American lives. And it’s a great change since his predecessor surrendered to the disease without putting up a fight. Trump held dangerous super-spreader events to largely maskless crows. But now we have a president who takes this disease seriously, so throwing out a bit of shade at Trump seems appropriate. Biden has tried to unify this country after having such a divisive president. But, this country might be too broken for that. Trump politicized COVID-19, and now it’s gotten out of hand after the former president unleashed a swarm of Karens on the public. And all because he didn’t want to wear a mask.
