President Of The Largest Teachers’ Union Dares Trump To Sit In The Classroom Amid Pandemic “And Breathe That Air”

Take a deep breath, Mr. President.

As the coronavirus pandemic surges across the United States, with more than three million Americans infected by the disease as of Wednesday, Donald Trump and his colleagues have been pushing to reopen schools. The Trump administration has come up with some incredible reasons for wanting to fling school doors open amid the raging pandemic, but it’s all about the economy.

The president of the nation’s largest teachers’ union wasn’t having it and presented Donald Trump with a dare.

“Did you hear the word he didn’t use? ‘Safely,’” National Education Association (NEA) President Lily Eskelsen Garcia said Wednesday on CNN’s New Day. “There’s no one that wants our kids back more than teachers … but we want to open it safely.”

“We see what happens when they let bars open prematurely,” she continued to say, noting spikes in coronavirus cases in states that were quick to reopen. “This isn’t a bar. We’re talking about second graders. I had 39 sixth graders one year in my class. I double-dog dare Donald Trump to sit in a class of 39 sixth graders and breathe that air without any preparation for how we’re going to bring our kids back safely.”

Watch:

OK, first off, I doubt that Trump would sit in a classroom. The president might, however, pay someone else to sit in one for him, though. Our wartime president surrendered to the coronavirus quite a while ago without putting up a fight, and now he wants to force schools to reopen amid the raging pandemic to save his job.

How would this work, anyway? Little kids will not sit still, and they pick their noses and ears and touch things. They touch everything, including their butts. I’m just trying to be real here, not gross. Children have “gross” covered. Tiny humans are curious about everything, but Trump thinks it’s no biggie if he tosses America’s children into a giant Petri dish.
