Senate Majority Leader and Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell is bound and determined to weasel Donald Trump out of the remainder of his formal impeachment proceedings, no matter what.
While Donald has already found himself formally and officially impeached in the House, the next stage of the process, Trump’s actual removal from office, lies in the hands of the Senate. And while the House had the majority to pull off the impeachment, we all know good and well that the Senate is stacked with a plethora of Trump sympathizers — many of whom Trump is undoubtedly holding under his thumb for a multitude of different reasons.
But none other seems to be doing the president’s bidding quite like “Moscow” Mitch, who’s apparently made it his life’s mission to sideline Democrats and essentially do whatever it is Trump is demanding of him at the time. And right now, that appears to be ensuring that a myriad of witness testimonies never see the light of day in his impending Senate trial.
The Senate Majority Leader announced today that he would be moving forward with a set of new impeachment trial rules, without the support of Democrats, thanks to sufficient support from his 53-member caucus.

This new blueprint for impeachment proceedings would completely do away with the question of calling witnesses and gathering testimonies until after well after all opening arguments have been presented.
“We have the votes once the impeachment trial has begun to pass a resolution essentially the same — very similar — to the 100 to nothing vote in the Clinton trial,” McConnell told reporters today. “All we’re doing here is saying we’re going to get started in exactly the same way that 100 senators agreed to 20 years ago.”
He went on to add that the Senate would “get around to the discussion of witnesses,” but not until well after the Senate trial is already underway.
While it’s clear that McConnell has absolutely no intention of playing by the rules (at least not the ones that he doesn’t makeup himself), his constituents are making damn sure he knows they have no intention of standing idly by as he attempts to screw the entire nation over for the benefit of Donald Trump.
As he continues to push his new sham impeachment rules, protesters from RemoveTrump swarmed the Senator’s office today, donning t-shirts that read “Trump Is Guilty” and “Remove Trump” while reciting Article II, Section 4 of the US Constitution.
Article II, Section 4 of the US Constitution reads: “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
It’s pretty safe to say they made their point damn clear.
