Over the course of this election season, we’ve certainly been thrown a few curveballs. We witnessed droves of people that we never expected to have on our side, cross over and denounce Donald Trump and throw their support and endorsement behind now president-elect, Joe Biden — People like the granddaughter of infamous evangelical Billy Graham. They were surprising, but very refreshing, and gave us hope that perhaps people were really and truly seeing Donald Trump for the monster he is, and maybe, just maybe, we could come out on the other side of this thing — which we’ve successfully done. However, there were a small handful of endorsements that came in for the other side that had us scratching our heads… Like the popular rapper Lil Wayne.
For all we know, Wayne could be a diehard MAGA supporter, which honestly looks to be the case based on his tweets about the now-outgoing President, lauding Trump for his work on criminal reform:
Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done. 🤙🏾 pic.twitter.com/Q9c5k1yMWf

But one of Wayne’s fellow musicians has a different theory as to why the rapper threw his support behind the MAGA president, and frankly, it makes a little more sense to me.

During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, rapper 50 Cent revealed that he was offered a staggering $1 million to attend Trump’s inauguration and he’s willing to bet that other Trump-supporting rappers were offered similar compensation, according to a report from Mediaite.
I’d like to note here that 50 Cent appears to be a Trump supporter himself, but nevertheless, his theories regarding payments to rappers still make sense.
“I’ve come to y’all to talk about them offering me $1 million to go to Trump’s inauguration,” the rapper said in his appearance on the show, talking about Donald Trump’s campaign team. “$5oo,000, and it went up to a million while I was still confused about what to do.”
Host Charlamagne Tha God questioned what 50 Cent found so confusing about the offer, specifically wondering if the amount of money offered was possibly too good for Lil Wayne to pass up.
“He was needing it for the same reasons you see now,” 50 said, talking about Trump. “He participated with different artists for the Black vote. And I’m going, Nah, I ain’t gonna put myself in that position. ‘Cause I don’t know what I’d have to do to recover from that.”
Later on in the interview, 50 Cent’s tweets, in which he trashed the now president-elect, Joe Biden, were brought up and he denied being paid any money to speak out against the then Democratic candidate, claiming the tweets were his own opinion, spurred by seeing Biden’s proposed tax plan on CNBC for the first time last month, prompting him to tweet the following:
👀WHAT THE F*CK! (VOTE ForTRUMP) IM OUT, 🏃♂️💨F*CK NEW YORK The KNICKS never win anyway. 🤷🏽♂️I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people 62% are you out of ya fucking mind. 😤 pic.twitter.com/uZu02k2Dlz

The rapper went on to say that he suspected his fellow musician, Lil Wayne, was paid by the Trump team to endorse the president.
“So Wayne definitely got a check then?” host Charlamagne asked.
“Yeah, I’m sure. Easily, he got paid. He had the sweater and the picture,” referencing the photo in Lil Wayne’s tweet where he praised Donald Trump.
Frankly, there’s no way of knowing what exactly took place in this situation. I just know it’s certainly not something I’d ever put past Trump and his team.
