Former President Donald Trump released an unhinged statement on Monday and specifically called out Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif), a member of the House select committee investigating the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Trump called the bipartisan committee “highly partisan” and again referred to it as the “Unselect Committee.” At one point, he wrote, “What happened to the Capitol would have never happened if the people in charge did their job and looked at the intelligence,” seemingly oblivious that he was the president on Jan. 6. He also referred to Rep. Adam Schiff as “Shifty Adam Schiff.”
Schiff, who made the case for the former president’s impeachment at the first trial in 2020, thanked Donald Trump for the “shout-out,” then promptly reminded him of who was in charge on Jan. 6.
Thanks for the shout-out, Mr. Former President.
As for your statement that the attack on the Capitol would never have happened if “the people in charge had done their job”
You do realize that you were in charge on January 6th? Right?
Just checking.

The twice-impeached one-term president can’t respond on his favorite social media platform since he was banned after inciting the deadly insurrection. But Twitter users weighed in.

We can’t change him, but sadly, he sure has changed us. America is nearly unrecognizable from what it was 20 years ago. Divided we fall, yet how do we accept that one political party wants to destroy free elections, and any possibility of equality? How do we forgive insurrection?

Brilliant trolling of TFG by Rep Adam Schiff https://t.co/y96jPZM0zB

I’m beginning to think the man didn’t understand what his job was after all 🤔

Sounds like a statement of admission that he, the former guy, was in control of the insurrection all along.

HIllary Clinton warned us in 2016. Adam Schiff warned the senate during his closing statement in the first impeachment trial – yet here we are. There won’t be a third warning. The US will have collapsed already. EVERY citizen who cares about democracy must STAND UP & push back.

He means Pence. He’s still butt hurt that Pence didn’t come through for him.

In an interview with NPR, Schiff explained what shocked him about the impeachment trial.
“What shocked me during the trial was the realization, as I listened to some of these [GOP] senators, that they understood the president was guilty,” he said. “They recognized that he was guilty. They were surprised by the abundance of evidence. … They only knew what they knew from watching Fox. But even when confronted with this evidence, it wasn’t enough to move them to give meaning to their oath, because it might cost them in their job or it might cost them a position in the Cabinet. And there was nothing they treasured quite so much as those things.”
They knew he was guilty then, and now they’re trying to blow it off as if the insurrection wasn’t a big deal. That’s called gaslighting.
