Colorado GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert’s communications director resigned over the weekend in the wake of the Capitol insurrection earlier this month. Ben Goldey wasn’t comfortable with how Boebert has reacted to the insurrection and its aftermath, and he’s not the only one. In one series of godawful tweets promoting the rally, she wrote one that sticks out, saying, “Today is 1776.” That was on the morning before violence and destruction engulfed the U.S. Capitol with insurrectionists wearing “1776” pins and t-shirts. In another tweet, she appeared to reveal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s location during the violent outbreak.
Speculation flew around the Internet, with people saying that she gave a tour of the Capitol — some saying to the unsavory terrorists that stormed the building while hunting for Democratic politicians and outgoing vice president Mike Pence.
On CNN, Rep. Steve Cohen called out Boebert by name, saying, “She‘s not on the home team; she’s with the visitors.” He confirmed that he witnessed Boebert leading a “large tour” of people through the Capitol in the days before the riot.
“We saw congress[woman] Boebert taking a group of people for a tour sometime after the 3rd and before the 6th,” Cohen said and added that a colleague saw Rep. Boebert giving people a tour of the Capitol in the days leading up to the riot.

Boebert denied the allegation.
NEW: In a text to me just now, @laurenboebert denied this allegation made on CNN by @RepCohen that she led a tour before the Capitol attack.
“I did not give any tours between Jan 3rd and 6th,” Boebert says. https://t.co/9OzNoD0WYh— Christal Hayes (@Journo_Christal) January 18, 2021
Cohen did say that he did not know if any of the people on Boebert’s tour were part of the MAGA mob that terrorized the Capitol and stunned the nation. However, video surveillance set up in the Capitol should easily confirm who was on the tour. Lordy, I hope there are tapes if baby girl was a participant in one of the darkest days in American history. Boebert has previously praised QAnon, so she must have felt at home in the Capitol as it filled with members of the Coup Klutz Qlan.
