While former President Barack Obama tends to stay pretty quiet regarding his “replacement,” a report now claims that the 44th president of the United States referred to the Trump administration’s coronavirus response as an “absolute chaotic disaster.”

According to a report from CNN, three former Obama administration officials confirmed that Obama held a private phone call with members of the Obama Alumni Association, in which he blistered Donald Trump’s response to the global pandemic and heavily encouraged his former employees to go to bat for his former Vice President Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.

“This election that’s coming up — on every level — is so important because what we’re going to be battling is not just a particular individual or a political party,” Obama stated, according to the CNN report. “What we’re fighting against is these long-term trends in which being selfish, being tribal, being divided, and seeing others as an enemy — that has become a stronger impulse in American life.”

During the call, Obama allegedly ripped apart Trump and his administration’s bungled response to the deadly virus outbreak, laying part of the blame on the Trump White House’s “what’s in it for me” take.

“It’s part of the reason why the response to this global crisis has been so anemic and spotty,” the former president stated. “It would have been bad even with the best of governments. It has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset of ‘what’s in it for me’ and ‘to heck with everybody else’… is operationalized in our government.”

“That’s why, I, by the way, am going to be spending as much time as necessary and campaigning as hard as I can for Joe Biden,” he added.

Obama’s remarks were first reported by Yahoo! News, who obtained an audio recording of the call in question.

Now that the former president has formally endorsed his old running mate, folks are expecting the Trump criticism from Obama to gain a lot of steam in the coming weeks.

“If there’s one thing we’ve learned as a country from moments of great crisis, it’s that the spirit of looking out for one another can’t be restricted to our homes or our workplaces or our neighborhoods or houses of worship,” Obama said in his endorsement video for Biden. “It also has to be reflected in our national government.”

Now we just wait for Trump’s incoming Twitter tantrum.
