Report Claimed Trump Has Resorted To Working From Private Quarters Instead Of The Oval Office Because He Doesn’t Trust Staff Around Him

Someone's paranoid.

Donald Trump has retreated to a safe place from staffers as he becomes increasingly more paranoid of those in his orbit. Instead of using the Oval Office to “work,” Trump was reportedly using his private residence. According to Politico, the White House residence has “become the place where Trump feels most productive, where he avoids meddling by his staff and where he speed-dials his network of confidantes, GOP lawmakers, and TV pundits.”

Trump made the controversial July 25 phone call to the Ukrainian president that kicked off his impeachment inquiry from his residence. According to the news outlet, his residence is also where the president often meets his personal attorneys to plot legal strategy or campaign advisers to shape his 2020 campaign moves. And after relentless attacks on the Federal Reserve Chair, Jerome Powell met with Trump in the president’s residence.

This sounds like a mixture of paranoia and guilt to me:

Maintaining a sanctuary to work and think has taken on greater importance for the president as he increasingly feels under siege by the Democratic impeachment inquiry. Frustrated by the whistleblower complaint and a parade of administration officials testifying on Capitol Hill, Trump is as wary as ever of the staffers around him and distrustful of the traditional White House infrastructure. Working from his private quarters gives him space away from what he perceives as prying eyes and guards against his omnipresent fear of leaks to the media.”

Trump ventures over to the Oval Office and the adjacent private dining room for five to six hours a day for formal meetings, lunches, and ceremonial events, according to current and former administration officials, but he spends most of his time in his private residence. Trump also tweets and watches a good amount of TV there.

The news outlet calls his residence “a bunker for his impeachment response and his real-time reaction to testimony, witnesses and public hearings.” But, on Twitter, the president would like you to think that’s he’s not worried about anything — unless he goes all-caps, of course.
