Report Claimed White House Officials Were Switching Strategies, “Hope Americans Will Grow Numb To The Escalating Death Toll” And “Live With The Virus Being A Threat”

This is insane.

White House officials have had to come to terms with the fact that COVID-19 infections are spiking in the United States, and more than two hundred and seventeen thousand Americans have died from the disease. The virus didn’t magically disappear in April as the president predicted, nor did warm weather eradicate it. So, for the Trump administration’s next trick, the White House simply wants Americans to “grow” numb to the mountain of bodies that keeps escalating.

The Washington Post reported that Donald Trump’s campaign was hoping to convince American voters that they can just “live with” the potentially deadly pandemic that the president failed to act upon when he first learned of the looming threat.

“The goal is to convince Americans that they can live with the virus — that schools should reopen, professional sports should return, a vaccine is likely to arrive by the end of the year and the economy will continue to improve,”  the news outlet reports.

“White House officials also hope Americans will grow numb to the escalating death toll and learn to accept tens of thousands of new cases a day, according to what three sources told the Post. “Americans will ‘live with the virus being a threat,’ in the words of one of those people, a senior administration official.”

Wellll, not everyone is alive, so it’s difficult to “live with” it for the deceased. But they want the rest of us to just get over it.

“They’re of the belief that people will get over it or if we stop highlighting it, the base will move on and the public will learn to accept 50,000 to 100,000 new cases a day,” said a former administration official that is still in touch with the campaign, according to the report.

COVID-19 cases have surged in the U.S. as some states halt reopening their economies. The coronavirus has spiked in forty states while Trump and his Republican colleagues appeared to be in denial as they pushed to reopen the economy. Trump recently claimed that the pandemic is “handled,” and now his campaign just wants Americans to live with the mounting death toll.

That’s pretty ghoulish and isn’t a very good campaign strategy.
