The country of Ukraine had another massive win today with a little help from a rather unexpected ally — the principal security agency of Russia, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB), according to a new report from Yahoo! News.

The secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, revealed on Ukrainian television today that a Russian plot to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was officially thwarted today after Ukraine received insider information warning them about the plot on Zelenskyy’s life from none other than agents with the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.

“I can say that we received information from representatives of the FSB, who today have no desire to take part in this bloody war,” Danilov reported today, claiming that Chechen special forces who were sent to kill Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were successfully “eliminated.”

“The Kadyrovites’ elite group, which came here specifically to eliminate our president, was directly destroyed,” the Ukrainian Secretary of National Defense said today. Per the report from Yahoo! News, “Kadyrovites refers to a Chechen paramilitary group accused of a number of human-rights violations and abuses. They serve at the pleasure of Razman Kadyrov, the head of the Chechen Republic and a close ally of Vladimir Putin.”

As we’re all well aware, Zelenskyy has been essentially blanketed in calls from the Western world’s leaders to flee his country through an evacuation, to preserve his safety as the President of Ukraine. However, Zelenskyy has remained steadfast and strong in his refusal to leave his people behind to fight in his place, or even leave the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. When the United States personally offered to evacuate Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president simply responded, “the fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.”

In an address before the European Parliament earlier today that was so deeply impassioned it left the EU’s English translator choking up with emotion, as he continues to fight for Ukraine’s place in the European Union amid the ongoing, violent invasion and attack from Russia, Zelenskyy said, “No one is going to break us. We are strong. We are Ukrainians. We have a desire to see our children alive. I think it’s a fair one.”

Let this serve as yet another reminder — This is Vladimir Putin’s war. Plain and simple.
