Over the last four years of Trump, America has faced its extra helping of hoaxes, conspiracy theories, and downright lies but none of those were pursued so dearly, by him anyway, than the Obamagate scandal. It has been quite the paradox over the last couple of years as Trump and his administration have complained that nobody has covered Obamagate while at the same time not being able to offer much of anything as to what it is. The idea behind the conspiracy theory is that of a weak counterattack against the investigations into his campaign that have found plenty of credible evidence to the contrary.

Well, it seems that Trump’s favorite conspiracy isn’t quite sparking the flame. According to the Daily Beast, allies of the President are admitting that his efforts to push “Russiagate” as a defense have fallen flat on his face.

“Trump and his aides, in recent weeks, have recognized that the public isn’t captivated by the Breitbart-friendly accounts of uncovered notes from former CIA officials four years ago, according to two sources familiar with the private complaints,” the Daily Beast laid out and the sources continue.

“Other political advisers don’t even think it’s worth the bother at this point. Some senior Trump aides have privately insisted that amplifying the inquiry from special prosecutor John Durham is a waste of time, at least electorally. It is not going to move any votes that aren’t already in our column.”

It is Trump’s worst nightmare that people aren’t nearly as obsessed with Obama and the supposed corruption as he is, and it is causing even more of a split between Republicans and the president.
