Report Claims Trump Won’t Wear A Face Mask Because He Would “Look Ridiculous” And It Would Hurt His Chances Of Reelection

Uhm...he already looks ridiculous.

When Donald Trump visited the Honeywell factory in Arizona, he did not wear a protective face mask at the facility that produces face masks. Then, Trump tried to claim that he did wear one even though numerous photos circulated showing the president without one on, and instead, he wore goggles. An interesting report by the Associated Press explains Trump’s aversion to wearing a face mask.

According to the report, Trump has told confidants in private that he believes if he wears a protective mask, it will “send the wrong message,” even though they are worn to protect others.

“The president said doing so would make it seem like he is preoccupied with health instead of focused on reopening the nation’s economy — which his aides believe is the key to his reelection chances in November,” the AP reports.

One of the White House officials that spoke to the AP said that Trump was afraid that he might look ridiculous wearing a face mask and that the image could be used against him in negative ads.

Interestingly, Trump hasn’t considered that being seen without wearing protective gear can also be used against the president in negative ads as the death toll in the US soars. It’s also interesting that a man who likely ways upward of 260 pounds (I’m pretty sure he lies about his weight, so I’m taking a guess), and wears high heeled shoes to exaggerate his height, and slurs his words during pressers, thinks that wearing a protective face mask amid a spreading pandemic will make him look “ridiculous,” but here we are.

Trump doesn’t adhere to safety guidelines that his own administration touts. The former reality show star said in early March that he would continue to shake people’s hands, despite health officials’ warnings, because, he said, “you can’t be a politician and not shake hands.”

Well, actually you can be a politician and not shake hands, you git. Trump has set a poor example during the national crisis as he’s thrown his support behind armed, anti-lockdown protesters who stormed the capitol in Michigan, and other states, while they failed to practice social distancing. I’m going to go out on a limb here to suggest that we need a new president. This one is broken.
