Republicans are floating the idea of allowing John Bolton to testify at the Senate impeachment trial if Hunter Biden would also be called to testify but we’re pretty sure that Donald Trump does not want his former National Security Adviser under oath in front of the country. As despicable as Bolton is, he knows the penalty for lying under oath. An excerpt from Bolton’s new book was leaked, and it further confirms that Trump was indeed dangling a quid pro quo over the metaphorical head of a foreign country that direly needed financial aid.
Things just took an even more bizarre turn in this dubious timeline we’ve all found ourselves suddenly living in as White House aides are now floating the possibility of filing a restraining order on Bolton to stop him from talking.

The White House knows what’s in the book and it must be damning, as the New York Times reports, “The submission … may have given Mr. Trump’s aides and lawyers direct insight into what Mr. Bolton would say if he were called to testify.” Republicans are concerned because Bolton knows where the bodies are buried. “If [Bolton] says stuff that implicates, say Mick [Mulvaney] or [Mike] Pompeo, then calls for them will intensify,” an aide told Axios.
Serving Bolton with a restraining order would be unprecedented, of course, but it was also unprecedented and unthinkable to give a serial bankruptcy filer and former reality show star with zero political experience the keys to hold the highest seat in the land — but here we are.
