Are they breaking up?!

To say that it’s been a whirlwind few days in Washington would be an understatement — after pro-Trump insurrectionists literally stormed, breached, and defamed our nation’s Capitol building causing shelters in place, mass evacuations, extensive damages, and more than a little hysteria.

The whole situation, along with Donald Trump’s response to it as well as his part in starting it all, has led many GOPers to finally come to their senses and see this outgoing President for what he truly is, with some even going so far as to resign from their positions in protest of all that took place.

And now it seems that the effects of it all have made their way as far as newly-demoted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The Washington Post now reports that McConnell is so distressed over the events at the Capitol that he has no interest in speaking with the lame duck President again.

The report reads,

McConnell, who has been estranged from the president in recent weeks, has told fellow senators and other confidants that he does not plan to speak with Trump again.”

McConnell spoke out on the riots upon returning to the building to reconvene for the Electoral College vote certification, where he said, “The United States Senate will not be intimidated. We will not be kept out of this chamber by thugs, mobs, or threats. We will not bow to lawlessness or intimidation. We are back at our posts. We will discharge our duty under the Constitution and for our nation.”

He went on to add, “Even during an ongoing armed rebellion and the Civil War, the clockwork of our democracy has carried on. The United States and the United States Congress have faced down much greater threats than the unhinged crowd we saw today.”

“They tried to disrupt our democracy. They failed,” he stated, adding, “This failed insurrection only underscores how crucial the task before us is for our republic.”

Congress ultimately was able to conclude the count and certify the vote that officially, beyond any shadow of a doubt, makes Joe Biden President-elect of the United States.

It’s over, Donnie boy. Long gone and over.
