In less than two minutes, Donald Trump once again trotted out the word “nasty” to describe California Sen. Kamala Harris after her historic selection by presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden as the first Black woman to join a presidential-party ticket. In fact, Trump called Harris “nasty” four times, and at one point, he called the California Democrat “extraordinarily nasty.” Trump has also deemed Harris to be “radical” even though she’s more of a moderate. Trump also falsely said that “She’s known for being the most liberal person in the US Senate.”
Trump sends fear rippling through Republicans, with those in the GOP afraid the president will unleash a mean-girl tweet directed at them, thus sending a flood of angry Red Hats screaming into their Twitter timelines. Loyalty with Trump, though, is a one-way street.
So, it’s nice to see that Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) unconcerned over whether Trump will flip out after he just praised Kamala Harris, calling her “smart and tough.”

Blunt has a history of getting along with Democrats. And Blunt isn’t the only Republican that didn’t appear to agree with Trump’s criticism of Harris.
Carly Fiorina said she disagrees with Harris “on many things,” but added “setting aside those disagreements as a woman, I think it is high time that we see a ferociously self-determined, highly accomplished, thoroughly prepared woman of color at the top of the national ticket,” The Hill reports. “And I think regardless of people’s political persuasions, I think honestly it just reminds us that diversity and possibility are the core of what makes this nation great,” she added.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) on Wednesday tweeted that he rarely agrees with Harris, but he acknowledged the historical significance of Harris joining Biden as his running mate.
I rarely agree with @KamalaHarris on anything. I think she is wrong on about every Dadgum issue. But, it’s pretty cool that we live in a country where an immigrant couple can have a girl that can have a shot at being the most powerful person in the world.

As for Blunt, the Senator’s acknowledgment of Harris as an intelligent and capable woman shows that the two sides can get along, but some changes have to be made on November 3rd for that to happen.
