How embarrassing.

Republicans have been on COIVD-19’s side as we battle the pandemic while they resist vaccines and protective face masks. There is no reason for it, but we have witnessed the biggest collective hissy fit in history after former President Donald Trump was defeated over a year ago. One of the reasons the twice-impeached one-term president lost his bid to keep the keys to the White House for four more years is because he completely bungled his response to the coronavirus. Most of us recall the former president suggesting that we inject bleach or bright a powerful “light into the body.”

Well, Sen. Ron Johnson says, hold my beer. On Wednesday night, the Wisconsin Republican Johnson suggested that mouthwash can cure COVID.

“By the way, standard gargle, mouthwash, has been proven to kill the coronavirus,” Johnson falsely said. “If you get it, you may reduce viral replication. Why not try all these things?”

Then Johson tweeted this.

Listerine now says on its website that it “is not intended to prevent or treat COVID-19 and should be used only as directed on the product label.”

“Overall, more research is needed to understand whether use of mouthwashes can impact viral transmission, exposure, viral entry, viral load and ultimately affect meaningful clinical outcomes or have a public health impact,” the website added.

Holy Ivermectin, they need to stop doing this. And frankly, it’s embarrassing. I’m embarrassed for him.
