In Illinois, there is a Barack Obama Day celebrated in August, but that day does not claim that he was one the greatest presidents of all time. Obama has ties to Illinois, so it makes sense that the state would celebrate the former president. In Ohio, however, two Republicans want to make June 14th a day to honor former President Donald Trump “to celebrate one of the greatest presidents in American history,” The Columbus Dispatch reports. I’m not aware of any ties Trump has to Ohio.

And the timing is kind of bad now considering that Trump was just impeached again, this time for inciting the violent insurrection earlier this month. Rioters are still being charged, including two women who were “looking” for House Speaker Pelosi “to shoot her in the friggin’ brain.”

Again, this is bad timing.

“Republican Reps. Jon Cross of Kenton and Reggie Stoltzfus of Paris Township sent an email to their House colleagues Friday asking them to cosponsor an upcoming bill “to celebrate one of the greatest presidents in American history,” the news outlet reports.

“Let’s show the 3,154,834 Ohio voters who cast their ballot to re-elect Donald J. Trump that we as a legislature recognize the accomplishments of his administration,” according to the request for co-sponsors.

June 14th is Donald Trump’s birthday — the day his father should have used a condom 74 years ago. And June 14th is also a national holiday: Flag Day.

“I don’t like the idea of changing an existing federal holiday that honors the flag,” Rep. Jeff Crossman (D-Parma) said, according to the Dispatch. “I think it’s disrespectful. ”

Well, yeah, it would be. Also, Trump is about to face the impeachment charge in the Senate after inciting the insurrection. The former president will likely be acquitted since spineless Republicans seem to be afraid of Donald Trump.

The news outlet reports that “Ohio, along with 40 other states, also recognizes some form of Ronald Reagan Day thanks to a 2009 law,” but “it’s an honor that appears to be bestowed after death.”

America still hasn’t healed from the deadly insurrection with the Capitol seized by violent Trump supporters that were literally trying to hunt down Democratic lawmakers to kill them, and of course, former vice president Mike Pence for not overturning the election results. So, of all the people they could honor, they picked that guy. You know, the one held super-spreader events to feed amid the raging pandemic. They honor that guy. Amazing.
