Devin Nunes and all his Republican comrades found themselves rather agitated as a result of the public impeachment hearings against “president” Donald Trump — the very same public impeachment hearings that they themselves demanded after they immaturely and illegally stormed the closed-door hearings that were being held by the House Intelligence Committee.
Since the hearings became public, Nunes has made a point, along with many of his fellow GOP members, to make as big an ass out of himself as possible. Nunes himself had an unnecessary level of hostility throughout both rounds of witness testimonies and frankly spent more time harping on about the alleged nude photographs of Donald Trump than he had anything with even a remote level of legitimacy.
And he was rather rambunctious outside of the hearings, as well — even sitting down for a segment on Fox News’ Life, Liberty, and Levin to label the impeachment process as nothing more than a smear campaign against Trump.
But, when it comes to ol’ “Nudey Nunes” it’s really no surprise that he’s so desperate to serve as the first line of defense against their sorry excuse for a leader of this nation — the guy quite literally admitted in a secret recording aired on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show that when it comes down to a choice between protecting Donald Trump and protecting the United States, his loyalty lies with the former.
The former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee can be heard saying in the secret recording, just shortly after the Mueller report dropped:
So therein lies what’s like your classic Catch-22 situation where we’re at a — it puts us in such a tough spot. If Sessions won’t un-recuse and Mueller won’t clear the president, we’re the only ones, which is really the danger. That’s why I keep — and thank you for saying it by the way — I mean, we have to keep all these seats. We have to keep the majority. If we do not keep the majority, all of this goes away.”
This recently resurfaced admission from one of Trump’s staunchest jockeys is just further proof of what we’ve all known for quite some time now — the Republican party has now turned into the party of Donald Trump. Nothing more. Nothing less. They have no interest at heart for the state of this nation. Their one and only goal is to protect Trump at all costs. Even if that cost is the safety, dignity, and respect of our country.
