President Donald Trump went back to pretending he respects doctors on Monday in a tweet recognizing National Doctors Day the day after he accused them of hoarding and selling medical supplies they’ve been asking for to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
During his press conference/campaign rally on Sunday, Trump insinuated that hospital personnel only need more supplies because they are stealing it for themselves.
“Are they going out the back door? Somebody should probably look into that. I just don’t see from a practical standpoint how it’s possible to go from that to that,” Trump said.
And then he offered praise for doctors on Twitter as if he never made the outrageous accusation at all.
On #NationalDoctorsDay, we recognize the remarkable men & women who treat their fellow Americans, find cures for the diseases & illnesses we face, and never waver in their efforts to treat every patient with the dignity, respect, and empathy they deserve. https://t.co/7PRogpEVTP

Seeing as how medical professionals have more to worry about than calling Trump out, Twitter users did it on their behalf.
sit down bro, everyone heard you accuse doctors (and nurses) of hoarding masks

Didn’t you just blame them on live TV?

You have no respect for doctors.

I’m old enough to remember *checks notes* yesterday, when you accused healthcare workers of hoarding medical supplies to distract from your own failure to activate emergency production months ago.

how about getting them some masks like, a month ago?

So that means at least today you won’t accuse them of stealing masks, right? #TrumpGenocide #MasksNow

Trump is trying to claim he respects doctors while also accusing them of being crooks to cover for his own incompetence in responding to this crisis. He can’t have it both ways, and that’s why Twitter users did not let him get away with this hypocrisy.
