A judge tore into the baby-faced founder of Students for Trump, labeling him as a “cold-blooded fraudster” before sentencing him to 13 months in prison for posing as a lawyer, the Daily News reports. It’s ironic how all these ‘drain the swamp’ guys turn out to be pretty swampy, including the former president. The ‘lock her up” crowd is also learning a lot about being locked up. And the ‘law and order’ crowd certainly seems terribly confused. In this case, it’s 25-year-old John Lambert who pretended to be Eric Pope of the New York City-based firm Pope & Dunn, according to the news outlet.

The Daily News reports that Lambert “falsely claimed to be a graduate of NYU Law School with a finance degree from University of Pennsylvania and 15 years of experience in corporate and patent law,” but that is a lie.

Lambert, from Tennessee, “admitted to running the racket from 2016 to 2018, which targeting people who had little or no experience seeking legal advice. Lambert earned at least $46,654 through legal advice he was totally unqualified to give,” the report states.

The judge called Lambert “a cold-blooded fraudster who cared not a whit about the victims of his fraud. She pointed out that one victim had expected Lambert — while posing as a lawyer — to help with a credit problem.

“Mr. Lambert took his money and did nothing,” Judge Caproni said. “Mr. Lambert did not even have the common decency to make up an excuse and tell the victim to hire another attorney.”

Lambert’s co-conspirator in the fraud was classmate Ryan Fournier, the Students for Trump co-founder. However, Fournier cooperated with prosecutors, according to the report.

“You cannot foist this off on being led astray by your co-defendant,” Judge Caproni said.

She noted that Lambert went on to make numerous media appearances and founded the group that became a presence on campuses nationwide, the report states.

“Those are actions of a leader, not a follower,” Caproni said.

“I lost focus on who I was. My ignorance was a disrespect to the law and my country,” Lambert said in court. “My life will be forever marked by this poor choice at a young age.” Lambert’s attorney said that his client no longer supports Donald Trump.
