Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) took a shot at CNN foreign correspondent Clarissa Ward over a clip showing her in Kabul amid the falling of Afghanistan to the Taliban. In the clip, Ward is clear and composed; even with the chaos on the streets and without foreign correspondents, we wouldn’t get accurate reporting on what’s taking place overseas. An individual has to have a lot of courage to do a job like that, but Cruz is a coward, so he suggested that Ward is a cheerleader for the Taliban. Cruz, of course, took her words out of context and took issue with one part of the segment and the fact that she’s wearing a burka.
“They’re just chanting death to America, but they seem friendly at the same time,” Ward says in the clip. “It’s utterly bizarre.”

Pretty extraordinary reporting from @clarissaward – doing a clear and composed live interview from the streets of Kabul pic.twitter.com/wteRNvvtmr

I guess Cruz thought he was being edgy.
Is there an enemy of America for whom @CNN WON’T cheerlead?
(In mandatory burkas, no less.) https://t.co/9O6pe8yROM

That didn’t go down well at all.
Low class tweet about a colleague who has put her life on the line throughout the conflict to bring people news. And takes her out of context to boot and maliciously accuses her of cheerleading for the Taliban. https://t.co/B1CPINjGxx

Appalling statement about a reporter showing real courage. Of a piece with so many glib takes trying to turn the Afghanistan catastrophe into parochial culture war issue. This is about the decline of American power, influence and will. Not press bias. https://t.co/5Ikg716Oxq

Hey, look everyone, the guy who ran from cold weather has some criticisms for the woman reporting while surrounded by Taliban. https://t.co/VHlBhx2c2E

.@tedcruz, I’d love to see you in Kabul, standing unarmed, amongst a bunch of Talibans, risking your life to bring the news to the world, so some asshat can talk crap about you from a couch in his Washington, DC office….or are you on a chaise-lounge in Cancun? https://t.co/5mvOJc8rPX

She’s risking her life.
To report the news from an incredibly volatile & dangerous place.
Because the truth dies in darkness, Ted.
And while your mock her burka, a reminder that you donned a tactical vest to hide in some bushes in the dark at the border.
Have a seat, coward. pic.twitter.com/y3llD87ZMS— Jo (@JoJoFromJerz) August 16, 2021
Ted, you literally packed your shit and left when cold weather hit Texas. How about you sit out criticizing a reporter bringing you the news surrounded by members of the Taliban?

Clarissa Ward: Literally risks her life to report from the ground of an extremely dangerous and chaotic situation.
Ted Cruz: Hightails it to Cancun after his house loses power for a couple days. https://t.co/OvWhs3FHsw

Mic drop:
Rather than running off to Cancun in tough times, @clarissaward is risking her life to tell the world what’s happening. That’s called bravery. Instead of RTing a conspiracy theorist’s misleading soundbite, perhaps your time would be better spent helping Americans in harm’s way.

Cruz would pee on himself if he was in this situation:
If there someone that knows what she is doing that someone is Clarissa. pic.twitter.com/CDUBTDutKS

Cruz once again confirmed that he has the emotional maturity of a tater tot.
