Texas Sen. Ted Cruz received backlash over the weekend for tweeting a “come and take it” Thanksgiving meme while morgues in the state are overflowing with COVID-19 victims. Food banks in the state are being hammered ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, so much so that the food giveaway last week was its largest ever to date. Over two hundred and fifty thousand Americans have died from the disease, but Cruz took to Twitter to dare people to take the Thanksgiving holiday from him.
The CDC notes, “The more people an individual interacts with at a gathering and the longer that interaction lasts, the higher the potential risk of becoming infected with COVID-19 and COVID-19 spreading.” The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention pleaded with Americans not to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday. But do go off, Ted.

Weird how you’ll stand up for everyone’s right to get sick with covid on thanksgiving, but not for your own wife.

Meanwhile, the White Houe is planning a holiday party while Americans are self-isolating. Cruz’s lack of empathy mirrors that of the president. You can still enjoy a Thanksgiving meal this week. But, let’s not see grandpa and grandma this year so that we can see them again.
