Attorney General William Barr, in an interview on CNN Wednesday, lashed out at states using mail-in voting during the raging coronavirus pandemic — but somehow, he didn’t seem to object to Donald Trump suggesting that voters should cast two ballots this November in the upcoming presidential election. When Barr was pressed on the fact that voting twice would be illegal, he said he was unaware of what state laws said about casting more than one ballot.

The Attorney General is the head of the United States Department of Justice and chief law enforcement officer of the federal government, so Barr is just playing dumb here to cover up for the president. As much as Barr tries to discredit mail-in voting, there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud. A backlash ensued when the U.S. president suggested that his supporters counteract voter fraud by committing voter fraud, and Barr just didn’t seem to be able to say it would be illegal.

So, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) sent the Attorney General a letter – containing just one sentence — and posted it on Twitter.

Lieu’s letter was well-received on Twitter.

Donald Trump is trying to fuck with the election in multiple ways. It’s almost as if the president is afraid of what will happen to him once he leaves office. And Barr is serving solely as the president’s lapdog. With Trump as president, the country’s top law enforcement official’s office has been reduced to a MAGA campaign surrogate for the president. We can’t even trust our country’s institutions anymore. Even the CDC appears to be political now. November 3rd, Mr. Trump.
