Dr. Moncef Slaoui, the former head of Operation Warp Speed, told Margaret Brennan on CBS’ Face The Nation that there were moments when he felt concerned about what it would mean for him personally to be tied to the Trump administration. Like most of us at some point in our lives, Dr. Slaoui wondered, “how did I get myself into this?”
Anyone tied to the toxic Trump administration will find themselves with new challenges, including obtaining employment and possibly being shunned by society. However, it’s different for Dr. Slaoui since he was part of Operation Warp Speed that worked to find a vaccine to battle the coronavirus.
After Slaoui took aim at Senator Rand Paul’s (R-KY) bizarre claim that individuals that are vaccinated do not have to wear protective face masks, Brennan asked the doctor if he feels “stigmatized” for working with the Trump administration, according to Mediaite.
“There were moments, frankly, where I told myself, ‘Oh my God, why did I get myself into this?’ But they never lasted long because the mission is way more important than those emotional moments,” Slaoui said.

Slaoui continued to say that “it’s a mistake to politicize a health issue” after many people have died or suffered because of the coronavirus. I can’t think of anyone that politicized it more than former President Donald Trump, who refused to wear a face mask, held super-spreader events, and mocked social distancing guidelines amid the raging pandemic. About 400,000 Americans died on Trump’s watch. It’s not politicizing to point that out. It’s a fact.
Trump said that he didn’t heed the advice of Dr. Anthony Fauci, our country’s top infectious disease expert, in his response to the coronavirus pandemic, Yahoo News reported.
“I listened to him, but I didn’t do what he said,” Trump told Fox News contributor Lisa Boothe on her new podcast. “He’s a great promoter,” Trump said. “He’s really a promoter more than anything else.”
While Trump is still taking shots at Fauci, President Joe Biden’s promise of 100 million vaccinations in the first 100 days of his administration was met more than 40 days ahead of schedule. Then, Biden got 200 million shots into Americans’ arms just before his 100-day mark. Again, that’s not politicizing the coronavirus. Part of the reason Americans fired Trump to hire Biden was his appalling response to the raging pandemic that has now taken the lives of over 582,000 Americans. Again, facts.
