The Internet Fired Back At Ted Cruz After He Seemed To Suggest That Restaurant Servers Are Grifters: “Someone Spit In Cruz’s Dinner Plate”

This is a bad look, Mr. Man.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) faced a backlash on social media, and that’s probably because he’s usually on the wrong side of decency. Cruz has been wrong all day long. Earlier when Cruz was asked to respond to polling showing 74 percent of Republicans favor a new stimulus bill, the Texas Republican suggested that the response to Covid-19 response is a Democratic conspiracy, saying, “The only objective Democrats have is to defeat Trump, and they cynically decided the best way to [do it] is to shut down every business & school.”

Sure, Ted, the entire world is in on this conspiracy, and shut down businesses due to people dying from the disease just to hurt Trump.

Not to be outdone by himself, Cruz then suggested on Face the Nation that restaurant servers are just sitting back and whatnot while taking government money instead of working during the massive COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’ve spoken to small business owners all over the state of Texas who are trying to reopen,” Cruz said, “and they are calling their waiters and waitresses, they are calling their busboys and they won’t come back.”

“And of course they won’t come back because the federal government is paying them in some instances twice as much money to stay home,” he added.

And it appears that restaurant workers and their families know a bit more about this than Cruz.

Cruz and his Republican colleagues are only concerned when direly-needed money is used to help regular Americans instead of the wealthy — the latter of whom do not need a hand up during the pandemic.
