The Mother Of DC Officer Who Was Brutally Assaulted By Capitol Attackers Ripped Into The GOP Over Trump’s Claims That The Rioters Were “Hugging And Kissing” Police

She did not hold back.

Former President Donald Trump told Fox News’s  Laura Ingraham last week that his supporters involved in the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol posed “zero threat.” The former president claimed that the rioters were “hugging and kissing the police” even though one police officer was killed in the attack, and 140 others suffered injuries. Trump then lashed out at ANTIFA even though the loosely-knit group was not at the Capitol on Jan. 6. Republicans have been largely silent after Trump made his jaw-dropping remarks.

The mother of one of the injured DC police officers, Terry Fanone, spoke to CNN’s Don Lemon and expressed the outrage that her family feels after Trump made his bizarre claims, and she’s not happy with Republicans, either.

“For us, for our family, and for each and every police officer that I know that Michael’s in touch with constantly, it’s outrageous. It’s so dehumanizing. It’s so devaluing,” Ms. Fanone said.

“The thing that is so profound is after [Trump] made those statements, the silence that followed — and where was the outrage from other people who were there … and the silence to me implies indifference, and I could be wrong, but indifference and complicity,” she continued.

Michael Fanone suffered from a traumatic brain injury, a concussion, a heart attack, and PTSD, after being tasered in the back of the neck, and beaten with a flagpole during the violence at the Capitol. “Some guys started getting a hold of my gun and they were screaming out, ‘Kill him with his own gun,'” Fanone, who’s been a police officer for almost two decades, told CNN in January.

“That doesn’t even begin to tell the story,” Terry Fanone added. “It doesn’t even begin to tell the story of what our family went through and what he went through that day.”

Watch:

Hundreds of arrests have been made after then-President Donald Trump’s supporters swarmed the US Capitol on January 6 — forcing Congress to go into lockdown and damaging the halls of government while attempting to overturn the election results. As for Trump, he’s just trying to gaslight us again. We see you, Donald.
