The NRA Has Reportedly Banned Guns For Trump’s Appearance At Their Event That Takes Place In Houston Just Days After TX Mass Shooting

Well, well, well...

Just yesterday, in the wake of the horrifically deadly mass shooting at Robb Elementary School — where an 18-year-old high school student turned gunman, Salvador Ramo, opened fire on a 4th-grade classroom and claimed the lives of at least 19 innocent children and 2 adults — we reported that Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott, Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz, and disgraced ex-President Donald Trump are currently slated to attend an event for the National Rifle Association, just 72 short hours after 21 people lost their lives to gun violence in this nation.

It’s worth noting here that the Robb Elementary School shooting will go down as the state of Texas’s most deadly school shooting in modern history, the nation’s third most deadly shooting, just after the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting and 2012 Sandy Hook shooting, and the country’s third deadly mass shooting in a matter of weeks.

But, as it currently stands, the event that is scheduled in Houston, Texas, of all places, has not been canceled and the three Republican jockeys have not backed out of their appearances.

However, it does look as though the NRA itself is desperately attempting to do some reputational damage control, without doing anything that’s actually useful, of course.

According to a new announcement on the NRA’s website, fresh off the heels of a deadly mass shooting — while it’s perfectly acceptable to bear your God-given right to arms during other portions of the three-day-long event—  attendees will now be disallowed from packing their firearms with them if they attend the forum with Trump, NRA’s Executive Vice President, NRA-ILA’s Executive Director, and “our nation’s top Second Amendment supporters.”

It seems the NRA is backing away from making the decision seem as though it’s about the shooting, writing instead on the convention’s website that since “President Donald J. Trump will be speaking at the forum,” the Secret Service demands that all attendees of the ex-president’s speech stand subject to searches and all firearms will be banned during that portion of the event.

Per the U.S. SECRET SERVICE, firearms, firearm accessories, knives, and other items WILL NOT BE PERMITTED in the General Assembly Hall.”

The NRA makes specific note that there will be “no storage available for firearms” during the event.

It’s worth noting here that the NRA also banned guns when Trump and Mike Pence were scheduled to speak at their 2018 convention. They cited the same Secret Service demands during the past event.

However, it seems to me that if “gun don’t kill people, people kill people” were honest to God true, like they peddle and claim to believe, then it shouldn’t be any problem whatsoever for the controversial former president to be in a room full of people who are packing.

Or is he worried one of those people with a gun might kill him?
