A recent report from The Independent reveals that the tipster who helped lead law enforcement officials to the location of Jennifer and James Crumbley — the parents of suspected Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley, who were recently charged for their connection to their son’s crime — will be eligible for a hearty $10,000 reward for his efforts and assistance, per the Detroit police chief.
Speaking to the local Detroit Free Press publication, Detroit Police Chief James White said, “My understanding, and I was talking to the sheriff and a couple of other people about that investigation, and it looks like that tip — that caller will be eligible for the reward. So I’m pretty happy about that.”
During their search for the Crumbley parents, following the public announcement of the involuntary manslaughter charges against them, US Marshals issued wanted posters that offered a $10,000 reward for any information “that would lead to the arrest of either Crumbley,” after the couple seemingly went “missing” following their official charges.
The Independent notes that it still remains unclear whether the tipster will be eligible for a $10,000 or $20,000 reward, as their tip ultimately led to the arrest of both Crumbley parents.

“I don’t have all the details. It truly is Oakland’s case. My understanding is it was one tip that opened the case up for us, that allowed us to make the apprehension,” Police Chief White told the local Detroit publication.
The Crumbley couple has been charged in connection to their son’s crimes due to not only their actions but inaction surrounding their 15-year-old son’s behavior.
Police ultimately arrested the parents at a warehouse in Detroit where the Crumbleys seemingly attempted to hide out following their charges, after their black Kia Seltos was spotted in the building’s parking lot and a tipster called it in.
During their arraignment on Saturday, District Court Judge Julie Nicholson said, “These charges are very, very serious. There’s no question about that. The court does have some concern about the flight risk, along with the public safety, given the circumstances that occurred yesterday and the fact that the defendants did have to be apprehended in order to appear for purposes of arraignment.”
Jennifer and James’ bond was set at a steep $500,000 a piece.
