The 2020 presidential election left us all with a sense that polls aren’t as accurate as they used to be, with predictions being far from what took place. So, Donald Trump Jr., because he has nothing better to do, decided to lash out at founder and editor-in-chief of FiveThirtyEight Nate Silver. It’s not like there’s a raging pandemic, long lines at food banks, and unemployment spiking in the United States or anything. No, the polls are the most important thing to the president’s eldest son.
“They had perhaps their best year ever in 2018. 2016 and 2020 polling errors were slightly worse than average but within a fairly normal range,” Silver tweeted. So, of course, Junior took to Twitter to say that Silver is trying to salvage his career.
We understand you’re trying to salvage a very lucrative career in polling punditry but it’s getting ridiculous. https://t.co/V6hXNyUNRk

Silver replied:
I’ll still have a job on January 21st, though.

Jokes on you Nate, Junior has never had a job. Can’t lose what you never had. pic.twitter.com/zz6C7dyVHU

And you didn’t inherit an online forecasting empire from your father’s father, either. Don Jr. personifies the unaccomplished, hyper-privileged dregs of late capitalism.

A job your daddy didn’t give you.

Nate, you likely won’t be saddled with legal troubles either.

The Trump clan has been protected so far since the family’s patriarch is the president, but that ends on January 20th of 2021. Junior will have some explaining to do to investigators, and so will his father. Don Jr. should probably focus on hiring a good attorney. However, from the looks of the lawyers exiting from Trump’s legal team that’s opposing the election results, he might be stuck with Rudy Giuliani — and that seems rather fitting somehow.
