Trump Administration Official Who Works With COVID Task Force On Jared Kushner: “He Is Solving The Coronavirus Like He’s Bringing Peace To The Middle East”

How totally unsurprising.

We’re now looking at over fifty-five thousand deaths from the novel coronavirus, a pandemic that Donald Trump failed to act promptly on when the president first learned of the threat in November. So, what does the president do to fight against the disease when he’s not tweeting? Trump gave his son-in-law Jared Kushner — who has no experience in the field — a key position to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unsurprisingly, that hasn’t worked out very well, according to the Daily Beast.

During the last couple of weeks, according to the outlet that spoke to two officials, Kushner has been notably removed from coronavirus-related operations. A White House official reportedly said it was “unclear” exactly what he and his team had done over the last two weeks. And yet another individual that is familiar with Kushner’s work told the outlet they hadn’t received updates from his team in “about a week.”

“[Jared] could be in his office just googling ‘coronavirus,’ show the results to the president, and still get a gold sticker from his dad-in-law,” said a senior Trump administration official who works with the coronavirus task force, according to the Daily Beast. “He is solving the coronavirus like he’s bringing peace to the [Middle East].

Facebook was Kushner’s go-to source amid the pandemic.

There have been times, however, when Kushner’s outreach to private actors has provoked mockery and some internal face-palming. In mid-March, it was reported that Kushner had consulted his sister-in-law’s father, a doctor named Kurt Kloss, who just happened to be fashion model Karlie Kloss’s dad. Dr. Kloss then posted to a Facebook group soliciting advice on what to tell ‘Jared,’ to whom he told Facebook associates that he had a ‘direct channel.’ The story, first reported by The Spectator, invited scorn and ridicule—not just online but in the White House as well.”

Privately, Trump has been defending his son-in-law’s work, telling staff that Kushner should be getting showered with praise from the media for all he’s doing. I’m starting to see a pattern here. The laziest president in US history expects praise from the media, too. Trump again kicked off his morning by lashing out at the press for daring to be critical of him. And now, Trump wants praise heaped on his son-in-law after accomplishing absolutely nothing during his time in the White House.
