Trump-Announced Boxing Match That Former President Touted, Reportedly Only Brought In 150K Pay-Per-View Buys

Former President Donald Trump joined his son, Don Jr., to provide commentary on a “gamecast” for the Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort boxing match on the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and he bragged about the “obscene” amount of money he will make from the event.

Well, we don’t know how much the twice-impeached one-term president made from the match, but boxing journalist Dan Rafael reported on Twitter that sources say that the match generated only around 150,000 PPV buys. If that number holds up, according to Mediate, it will represent a massive blow for Triller, who promoted and sold the PPV event for $49.99.

Now, admittedly I don’t know a thing about boxing, but Mediaite broke it down.

“In comparison, Mike Tyson’s return to the ring against Roy Jones Jr. last year surpassed a reported 1.6 million PPV buys, or more than 10 times the reported amount of Triller’s Holyfield bout,” the outlet reports.

Ohhhh.

And Trump is all about numbers and the massive crowds he attracts while ridiculing President Joe Biden for having small gatherings amid the raging pandemic. And yet, he couldn’t pull in the numbers for the Pay-per-View event, and I find that hilarious. Trump falsely lashed out at the NFL for its ratings, saying they were “way down.” Well, of course, the former president did that because he had an absolute freak out over Black athletes who chose to kneel in silent protest over racial injustice. And now, Trump’s Pay-per-View numbers are in the shitter.

“While the NBA and NFL watch their TV ratings start to bounce back from a deplorable 2020, the Triller-Trump partnership just oversaw an epic fail for boxing,’ the outlet adds. Just maybe, Trump shouldn’t act like an arrogant, insufferable twit, and just…oh, never mind. He’s not capable of that. But it’s nice to see karma doing her thing.
