Trump Blatantly Ignored His Own Social Distancing Guidelines For A Photo Op

Way to lead by example there, Donald.

Over the past few weeks, Trump has begrudgingly been pushing the social distancing guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control to combat the overwhelming spread of coronavirus in the United States. It took a while, but Donald finally adopted those guidelines as official White House/Trump administration guidelines after he seemed to realize at long last that this thing wasn’t going to go away on its own.

But once again, it seems that Trump isn’t following the very rules that he and his administration are touting.

Of course, a blatant disregard for the rules has been a habit of Trump’s since this whole ordeal started — when he refused to stop shaking hands and refused to wear a mask despite the multiple strong recommendations from more than one set of officials.

And it seems now that social distancing measures are no different — he just doesn’t seem to think that they apply to him.

Today, an event was held to honor “America’s truckers who are answering the call to action to transport supplies across the country,” who have been working double, triple, and quadruple time to get supplies out to the American public as we continue to wade through the thick of this global pandemic.

However, it seemed that Donald simply couldn’t pass up the chance at a good photo op, social distance guidelines or not, as he squeezed in close to the truck drivers from various companies (including UPS, FedEx, and DHL) and handed them, along with Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao and Chris Spear, CEO of American Trucking Associations, golden keys for their service.

“I almost shook your hand,” Trump quipped at Spear as they nearly cuddled for the snapshot — as if a handshake matters when you’re all but breathing down each other’s throats.

Seriously. Check out the video from The American Independent:

It really comes as no surprise, though. This is the same dude that made the guardians of a recently orphaned baby come all the way back to the hospital for a photo op with him after the child’s parents had just died in a mass shooting.

Even the coronavirus won’t stop Donald Trump from getting his 15 minutes of fame.
