Trump Claimed There Were “A Lot Of Insurance Reasons” That Prevented Him From Going Inside St John’s Church During Controversial Photo-OP, But According To CNN Fact-Checkers That Is Not True

You'd think he would know by now that he's always going to get caught.

Even several weeks after the now-infamous and highly controversial photo-op he held just outside the doors of a prominent church in Washington, D.C., Donald Trump is still attempting to offer up explanations for the disgusting display of privilege and horrifying attempt at a grab for power, as well as excuses for why he never actually stepped inside of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

During a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump claimed that his reasoning for keeping the painfully awkward and overall downright cruel Bible photo op to the confines of the sidewalk in front of the church boiled down to “a lot of insurance reasons” that prevented him from actually entering the church.

However, in what is now the umpteenth fact check of Trump’s nearly completed presidential term, it’s once again been revealed that he’s, well, full of it.

According to a pretty brutal fact check from CNNTrump’s claim of insurance issues is about as legitimate as his hair or his height.

Speaking with CNN, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington said, “There were no insurance reasons” why Donald Trump couldn’t have entered St. John’s Church during his heavily criticized Bible photo-op.

Of course, at this point, it’s pretty clear that Trump is grasping at straws due to the massive amount of criticism he’s received since the blatant power grab — in which he quite literally brought the force of the United States National Guard down on peaceful protesters in the streets of D.C. for no other discernable reason than his own comfort and ego.

During the WSJ interview, Trump stated, “And I didn’t think it was exactly the right time to pray. I’m on the sidewalk. And the church itself, I didn’t want to go in because they had a lot of insurance reasons. You know, the church was boarded up.”

However, Budde asserts that there was no prior conversation between the president and church officials before Trump and his team seemingly randomly decided to show up in front of the church and commander the area for his photoshoot.

Budde went on to explain that presidents “usually call in advance” before just showing up.

“Of course, he didn’t ask — he didn’t tell us he was coming, so there was no way to prepare,” Budde stated. “There was nothing in his posture that indicated he was coming to the church to engage with us. There was no engagement.”

Once again, Trump is just a liar. Plain and simple.
