Donald Trump is currently holding a press briefing at the G7 Summit in France. And since he’s being gunning for the reinstatement of Russia to the gathering since he wormed his way to the presidency with their help two and a half years ago, after the country was booted during Obama’s administration for annexing the Crimean Penninsula — it’s really no surprise that the topic was quickly brought up by reporters.
But Russia is a touchy subject for Mr. Trump. He owes his presidency to Russia and he wants to be just like Putin when he grows up, so he naturally has to watch his P’s and Q’s when it comes to what he says about them.
So, as Trump generally does, instead of giving a direct answer to direct questions regarding the ordeal between Russia and the annual meeting, Trump deflected to good ol’ Obama.
One reporter questioned Donald as to why he wanted to reinstate the ousted country, to which he replied, “I don’t care politically. A lot of people don’t understand this. I don’t care politically… I don’t do things for political reasons. A lot of people are smart. A lot of people say having Russia, which is a power, having them inside the room is better than having them outside the room… I’m not blaming him, but a lot of bad things happened with President Putin and President Obama.”

Donald then went on to lob another attack at his predecessor in regards to Obama stating that Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria using chemical weapons would cross his “red line.”
“If you can’t draw a red line in the sand, you just can’t do it,” Trump proclaimed. “And the other was Ukraine having to do with a certain section of Ukraine, that you know very well, where it was sort of taken away from President Obama. Not taken away from President Trump, taken away from President Obama.”
“President Obama was not happy this happened because it was embarrassing to him. Right?” he continued to ramble. “It was very embarrassing to him, and he wanted Russia to be out of what was called the G8. And that was his determination. He was outsmarted by Putin. He was outsmarted. President Putin outsmarted President Obama and I can understand how President Obama would feel. He wasn’t happy.”
Donald then went on to express his sympathy for the Russian dictator, saying that Putin’s booting from the annual meeting was a “pretty tough thing for” him.
“He is a proud person. Would I invite him? I would certainly invite him. Whether or not he could come, psychologically, is a tough thing for him to do. You have a G8, now a G7, you invite the person that was thrown out really by President Obama and really because he got outsmarted.”
It’s like a reflex for him. Someone mentions Putin, he starts screaming, “BUT OBAMA!” from the rooftops.
