Y’all’s unhinged “president” is retweeting/tweeting up a storm today, and he just wants you to know that he’s not afraid of the upcoming debates against Democratic contenders. Donald Trump, though, made no mention of the fact that states are refusing Republican primary challengers, thus avoiding debate time with the current occupant of the White House with any of his party’s contenders. That last tidbit of information cements the GOP as the party of Donald Trump, and if that’s the hill they want to die on, so be it.
To be sure, if Trump debated any of the Democratic candidates, he would be called out on a lot of indefensible issues, not including his upcoming impeachment. There is a long list of topics Democrats could bring up, including human rights violations, abandoning the Kurds, political polarization, sucking up to Saudi Arabia after the kidnapping and horrific murder of Jamal Khashoggi, tax breaks for the wealthy, and his godawful tweets, of course, that he uses as a tool to divide this country.
Still, Trump claims that his “record is so good” that he will consider debating Democratic challengers.
I look very much forward to debating whoever the lucky person is who stumbles across the finish line in the little watched Do Nothing Democrat Debates. My record is so good on the Economy and all else, including debating, that perhaps I would consider more than 3 debates…..

And then he made excuses, probably in case he backs down from debating.

….to me, and there are many options, including doing them directly & avoiding the nasty politics of this very biased Commission. I will make a decision at an appropriate time but in the meantime, the Commission on Presidential Debates is NOT authorized to speak for me (or R’s)!

Trump has a penchant for lying and today is no different than all the others. During one of the 2016 debates, there was a malfunction with Trump’s mic but the commission never “publicly apologized.” Trump’s debate performance was widely panned that night so he complained that the event’s organizers had given him a “defective mic.” Hillary Clinton hit back on Trump’s claim, telling reporters, “Anybody who complains about the microphone is not having a good night.”
What’s the over/under of Trump having the nerve to debate the Democratic candidates? If you think he will, I own a bigly bridge that’s up for sale. I’d like to be wrong, though. Trump would be ripped into tiny pieces on the debate stage in front of the world.
