Trump Hilariously Claims During Interview That Melania’s White House Christmas Displays Got “Great Reviews”

Yea. No. No she didn't.

With the holiday season officially upon us, the topic of White House Christmas decor has been abuzz — especially now that we finally have new leadership in the People’s House.

Since the unveiling of First Lady Jill Biden’s White House decor, the comparison between Dr. Biden’s take on the holiday season, against Melania Trump’s style has been front and center. Frankly, Dr. Biden’s White House Christmas holds an air of warmth, family, compassion, and holiday cheer, while Melania Trump’s appeared as though she pulled a page straight out of The Handmaid’s Tale.

It got so intense that even Don Jr. weighed in with a rare defense of his stepmom.

Now it seems that, in true Trump fashion, they just couldn’t let the whole ordeal go — as the ex-president recently sat down for an interview with Mike Huckabee (forgot about him, didn’t ya?) to claim that, actually, people absolutely loved Melania’s Christmas decor during his White House term.

The Huckabee interview was part of a Christmas special from Mar-a-Lago that aired on Newsmax earlier this week. During the sit-down, Huckabee asked Trump “How does the Trump family celebrate Christmas?”

“Well, different ways for different years,” the one-term, twice-impeached, disgraced ex-president responded. “I mean, we had New York. Now we’re in Florida. Florida’s been a state that’s treated me so well, and I still love New York. New York is incredible.”

“Then I had the White House years, and having Christmas at the White House and being — even the environment, and Melania always did a fantastic job of fixing up the trees,” Trump went on. “I mean, she did magnificent displays, and generally speaking even from the super-liberal press, got great reviews, which is shocking, OK? Because they didn’t like giving us good reviews.”

“And then we now spend it in Florida, and Christmas in Florida is very beautiful,” the ex-president added.

The thing is, Melania’s White House Christmas decorations did not, in fact, get very good reviews. Not at all.

Newsmax said of Melania’s decor in their recent coverage of Jill Biden’s White House Christmas that “the former first lady’s stint in the White House will forever be associated with her dystopian blood-red Christmas trees in the East Colonnade in 2018 and her infamous hatred of the holiday that was leaked to the world through a secretly recorded phone call.”

Melania’s blood-red Christmas decor was labeled “deeply haunted” by New York Magazinewhile the Guardian wrote, “these 40 meme-ready trees were compared to car-wash brushes, juxtaposed with iconic blood waves in Stephen King’s The Shining and photoshopped to don white bonnets – a clear reference to the long-suffering women in Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.”
