In an absolutely incredible Newsmax on Thursday, former President Donald Trump took credit for rescuing the holidays and letting Americans once again say Merry Christmas because we couldn’t say those two words until the twice-impeached one-term president came along. Amen. Mike Huckabee, who identifies as a Christian, lied his ass off.
“We went through a long period where people quit saying Merry Christmas,” Huckabee falsely said. “You deliberately changed that.”
“It was embarrassing for stores to say ‘Merry Christmas,’ you’d see these big chains, they want your money, but they don’t want to say ‘Merry Christmas,'” Trump insisted. “They’d use reds, they’d use whites and snow, but they wouldn’t say Christmas.”
As if that wasn’t enough, Trump claimed that he kept a campaign promise, saying, “I said, ‘You’re going to say Merry Christmas again,’ and now people are saying it.” Trump added, and “We brought it back very quickly!”

“Mr. President, I want to say, because of you, a lot of Americans have had some great Christmases,” Huckabee said, citing the economy even though Trump left office with the worst jobs record since Herbert Hoover.

Look, anyone who buys that crap that Donald is still peddling deserves him. No President has ever tried to stop us from saying Merry Christmas. That’s just some right-wing evangelical bullshit with a massive dash of victimization thrown into the mix. Nothing has even vaguely happened like that. Not once. And Trump didn’t save Christmas. In fact, I recall Americans not being able to travel to see their family members one recent Christmas because that moron bungled his response to the coronavirus pandemic. And Mike Huckabee needs to wipe his mouth off. He has a strange orange stain on his lips.
