Donald Trump lashed out at House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., again over his handling of the impeachment hearing. Recently, Trump has called Schiff a “very sick man” and “deranged human being,” among other things. Trump makes it obvious on a daily basis that he is unhinged and unfit to serve at the highest or even lowest levels of government, and today he confirmed that again.
Trump spoke to reporters today on the eve of his looming impeachment, and he decided to crank up the crazy notch a few times. Most adults would know that attacking the House Intelligence Chairman the day before Congress votes on the articles of impeachment is a very bad idea, but Trump’s attacks on Schiff have been relentless.
Speaking after a meeting with Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales, Trump tore into Schiff, suggesting the California Democrat should be punished severely after he paraphrased the “president’s” infamous quid pro quo phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“It’s a total sham,” Trump said. “When you have a guy like shifty Shiff go out and make up a statement that I made, he said ‘this is what I said,’ but I never said it. He totally made it up. In Guatemala, they handle things much tougher than that.”

The readout released by the White House of Trump’s conversation with Zelensky is not a verbatim transcript even though Trump has repeatedly told the public to “Read the transcript!” Schiff was paraphrasing — or gave his interpretation of what Trump said during the phone call — which he said, “reads like a classic organized crime shakedown.” And what Trump said today seems to confirm that.
Trump did urge Zelensky to investigate Biden, and he even gave public signals for China to do the same. Also, this is the United States of America, not Guatemala.
