Donald Trump gave yet another of his daily COVID-19 briefings that turned into a MAGA rally as he brought up the election, saying he would “win in a landslide” on November 3rd. Now, I don’t know what that has to do with the pandemic that has taken over forty-one thousand American lives and put tens of millions out of work as people shelter at home to flatten the coronavirus curve, but that’s just who Trump is.
Another thing Trump is: A liar. The former reality show star has a penchant for lying, and during a pandemic of this proportion, it’s far better for the public to hear the truth, no matter what it is. We have to know what’s coming to be prepared. For example, it would have been helpful if Trump had warned us of the looming pandemic when he learned of the threat in November, but instead, he told Israel.
Just after telling one White House correspondent, “I cannot tell a lie,” Trump took a question from another reporter, then promptly told a lie about testing. Trump once again alleged that the U.S. had done more testing than all other countries combined, but that’s just not true per capita. If he’s talking about raw numbers, it’s a completely meaningless statistic. Trump has been fact-checked on this claim before.

Yamiche Alcindor, a favorite target of Trump’s, asked the president whether he was concerned about downplaying the disease for so long. Trump’s answer was pretty bizarre but shows where his priorities are.
“And a lot of people love Trump, right?” the president said. “I think we’re gonna win in a landslide.”
.@Yamiche: Are you concerned downplaying the virus maybe got some people sick?

Trump also called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “nasty,” then went on to say we’ve had a great spirit of bipartisanship in this country. The former frozen steak salesman said the country is unified, then said some networks are “hostile.” I’m starting to see a pattern here.
