The Trump administration is reportedly sending a White House loyalist to serve in a key Defense Department policy role to vet out officials to be sure they are loyal to the president, according to Foreign Policy. Michael Cutrone, who has served as Vice President Mike Pence’s top national security aide for South Asia, is set to arrive at the Pentagon to vet Defense Department officials for loyalty to Donald Trump, two current administration officials told the outlet.
Some officials are concerned that Cutrone will undermine Defense Secretary Mark Esper’s authority as Trump attempts to remove disloyal officials from the rankings. Some said they fear the few officials left to push back on ideas will be removed from their positions or undermined.
“He is pushing to replace and remove civilians in OSD [the Office of the Secretary of Defense] that are not aligned with the White House,” one current senior administration official said. “Esper has no say in who the key people are going into senior positions.”
Trump has frequently replaced Cabinet members and others in his orbit who disagreed with him. The revolving door outside the White House has been extremely busy with this president, who demands loyalty to him. And with Trump, loyalty is a one-way street.

Trump isn’t demanding loyalty to the country and to the Consitution, which he’s never read, but to him, and that should alarm anyone. But it won’t bother Trump’s Republican colleagues since they’ve given the former reality free rein to run amok while he takes massive shits all over the Constitution.
Trump’s paranoia is peaking, and we’ve seen it increase previously during his COVID-19 pandemic daily briefings, and on Twitter where he lashes out at the world. He’s on a roll, with no one with the ovaries or balls in his circle of miscreants willing to stop him or even call him out. Can we just admit that putting a game show host in the White House is a bad idea now? Asking for a country, thank you.
