Trump Official Admits They Screwed Up The Response To COVID-19 Pandemic With Slow Reaction

It's painfully obvious to everyone.

An unnamed official with the Trump administration who works at the Health and Human Services department admitted to Axios that the White House was months behind in responding to the coronavirus pandemic. The official said the administration should have engaged the private sector to ramp up medical manufacturing in mid-January, and now the health care industry is pleading for the necessary tools to help in the fight against COVID-19.

“By waiting to fully appreciate and acknowledge this as a once-in-a-lifetime crisis, this was a colossal missed opportunity,” the official told the news outlet. When Caitlin Owens of Axios asked the official “how all of this keeps happening, the official said it’s at least partially due to disconnects — between Trump and his administration; between the government and the private sector, and between the U.S. and the rest of the world.”

“At the end of the day, the virus has slipped through all those cracks that exist between all of these entities,” the official said.

Instead of springing into action, Trump downplayed and even mocked the outbreak of the potentially deadly coronavirus at his ego-rallies, and on Twitter. Trump went from saying, “This is just one guy out of China. We’ve got it all under control” to “This will all go away when it gets warm, like in April. It’s a miracle, really.” Then, “I don’t want to let them off that ship because then my numbers go up.” And of course, “This is just another Democrat hoax..”

But now that the stock market has wiped out any gains during the three-plus years Donald Trump has been in office,  the pandemic has finally caught the president’s attention. Unemployment numbers are through the roof, and 55,330 cases of coronavirus cases are reportedly in the U.S. — and 804 deaths from COVID-19. The number of cases will continue to climb exponentially unless we flatten the coronavirus curve. Unfortunately, President Stable Genius has suggested ending the practice of quarantining to put Americans back to work.

Trump is even refusing to talk with past presidents to get their advice because he “doesn’t think he’s going to learn much from them.” Trump is incapable of putting his ego aside in order to help a panicked and struggling nation. America is left without a president at the helm during this national crisis.
