Rather than express any empathy or concern with the continually rising death toll in the United States due to the coronavirus, President Donald Trump promoted his California golf course on Twitter. And Americans were NOT amused.
Trump promoted the Los Angeles golf course after it announced that it would re-open even as the state of California is still working to flatten the curve and the threat of a deadly second wave of the virus looms.
So great to see our Country starting to open up again! https://t.co/ceXFk4iWBX

Promoting his golf course is a violation of the Emoluments Clause and is in poor taste since Americans are still dying.

Americans did not appreciate this utter lack of compassion and thrashed his tone-deaf tweet.
80,000 dead Americans and Trump’s promoting his golf course.

No empathy from you about the 78,000 deaths that were lost by #COVID19 and your neglect.
— David Weissman (@davidmweissman) May 10, 2020
80k Americans are dead.
1.4M are sick, including members of the White House staff.
And you are pushing your own business?
What a monumental disgrace you are to this country and the presidency.— Victoria Brownworth #TestEveryone (@VABVOX) May 10, 2020
No tests are available for us. No tracing is being implemented. You have done nothing to make it safe for us to go out. The virus has killed 80,125 people so far, 2000 more will be dead by tomorrow. But by all means promote your golf course

Again, Trump is pimping his private businesses in his capacity as POTUS, a clear Emolument Clause violation, if not just a simple example of his rank corruption.

So sad to see that the illegitimate President of the United States adverts for his golf properties.
— Thorsten in Lockdown (@Airvooocht) May 10, 2020
The President is using his office to promote his business. Gross.
— Helen Kennedy (@HelenKennedy) May 10, 2020
Oh nothing to see here, just the president of the USA promoting one his own businesses while still in office.
— MURRAY (@murray_nyc) May 10, 2020
We could convert that beautiful land into a cemetery to bury some of the 80,000 Americans who have died because of your extreme negligence.
Or maybe we should hold off for now because so many more Americans are going to die now that the country is opening up.

American lives are more important than a golf course, but Trump made it clear what his priorities are in this tweet. Adding further to the insult, he posted the tweet on Mother’s Day, which was a sad day this year due to the fact that many mothers have lost children to this virus, and many children have lost their mothers.
