Former President Donald Trump blasted Colin Powell and the media following the former Secretary of State’s death. Powell, a Republican, was an ardent critic of the twice-impeached one-term president, especially after the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection. Powell endorsed Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign, and that likely bothered Trump a great deal. Trump isn’t known for taking even the slightest bit of criticism very well.
“Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media. Hope that happens to me someday,” Trump said in a statement tweeted out by his spokesperson Liz Harrington to circumvent his Twitter ban.
“He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to attack other Republicans. He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace!” he added.

It’s laughable that Trump claims that Powell attacked other Republicans when the former president lashed out at Sen. “Wacky” Bill Cassidy and “Little Ben Sasse” on Monday. Trump also lashed out at Sen. John McCain after his death. I’m starting to see a pattern here. And Trump criticized Powell for his role in the Iraq war when the former president tried to start a war on U.S. soil to cling to power after being defeated by Joe Biden in the electoral and popular vote. Powell isn’t even buried yet, and Trump just had to lash out at the former Secretary of State.
