Donald Trump has once again been lashing out at news outlets today amid a national crisis, and the reason for that is that reports have been giving us a terrifying look into his ineptitude to hold the highest seat in the land. A Commander-in-Chief is supposed to keep us safe, but this president is incapable of that task. As it happens, Trump was warned about the potential for a pandemic but that led to a halt over internal divisions, lack of planning and his faith in his own instincts, according to the New York Times.
Trump wants this country to believe he acted quickly after learning of the massive COVID-19 outbreak, but nothing could be further from the truth. While Trump repeatedly downplayed the seriousness of the spreading disease and even mocked the coronavirus at a rally, figures inside his government — from top White House advisers to experts deep in the cabinet departments and intelligence agencies — identified the threat, and sounded alarms to make it clear that aggressive action is needed.
That was in January, and since then, over twenty thousand Americans have died after contracting COVID-19.
The Times reports that in February, the administration’s top public health experts concluded that the president should warn the American people of the risks and urge steps like social distancing and staying home from work. That advice from experts wasn’t heeded. The White House reportedly “focused instead on messaging and crucial additional weeks went by before their views were reluctantly accepted by the president.”

It took Trump until mid-March to recommend social distancing across the country, bringing much of the economy to a halt, and he has since suggested opening the country back up. The paper described Trump as “shellshocked and deflated” to some of his closest associates. One said he was “subdued” and “baffled” by how the crisis had played out. The economy that he touts and has claimed was due to his presidency was suddenly in shambles.
Trump was more concerned over media outlets that are critical of him.
On February 26, Trump was scheduled to meet with top infectious disease experts to discuss urgent social distancing steps. Instead, the meeting was cancelled bc Trump was mad about bad press. Then Pence took over & pissed away 3 weeks before taking action. https://t.co/WSnYj1jzWH

Any other president would be forced to resign. There is blood all over Trump’s hands.
