He could consult any top health expert in the world, yet he reaches out to Alex Rodriguez instead.

It turns out that President Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic is even more embarrassing: He reportedly called former Yankees shortstop Alex Rodriguez for advice on the pandemic while continuing to ignore health experts.

Alex Rodriguez is not an infectious disease expert, nor is he a health professional of any kind. Yet Trump consulted him for advice this week as the pandemic ripped through the country, infecting over 100,000 Americans and killing over 1,500 so far.

Why Trump would reach out to Rodriguez is anyone’s guess. After all, his fiancé Jennifer Lopez took a shot at Trump’s border and child detention/kidnapping policies during the Superbowl in February. Perhaps Trump thinks that because A-Rod played in New York that he has some insight on the current coronavirus crisis unfolding in the city. But Rodriguez is not an expert on city emergencies and emergency planning either. Maybe because Rodriguez allegedly took steroids Trump thinks he’s an expert on drugs that could fight the virus? Regardless of the reason, it just doesn’t make any sense.

Trump, of course, denied the multiple reports by calling it “fake news” on Twitter.

But it appears Trump did make that call and did seek advice on his coronavirus response. And Twitter users were not amused.

If anyone needed any more evidence that Trump has no idea what he’s doing, look no further than him consulting a retired jock instead of top health experts while Americans die.
