Oh boy.

Trump’s presidency has become a parody of itself. Most of us are wearing face masks to protect others, and fashion, or how we feel we look with them on us doesn’t enter into the equation. Trump — as strange-looking as his appearance is — seems to think that wearing a face mask would make him look less presidential or manly. And frankly, most of us think Trump would look better with something covering his swollen orange mouth-hole.

Trump said Wednesday that he’s “all for masks,” but doesn’t support a national mandate for people to wear them during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I don’t know if you need mandatory,” Trump said during a Fox Business Network interview. “You have many places in the country where people stay a very long distance.”

“But I’m all for masks, I think masks are good,” Trump said, adding that he has been seen wearing one in situations where he was in a group of people, even though none of us have seen him wearing one while he’s been in a “group of people.”

“Usually I’m not in that position,” Trump said, noting that “everyone gets tested [for Covid-19] before they see me.”

“I mean, I’d have no problem. Actually, I had a mask on, I sort of liked the way I looked,” Trump said, adding that he thought he looked like the “Lone Ranger.”

Interestingly, Fox cut that last part of his sentence off in their clip, but CNN’s Daniel Dale has the receipts.

And the transcript:

Numerous health experts say that a national mask mandate could save lives by helping prevent the spread of the highly contagious disease, but Trump has refused to lead by example and wear one. And that “Lone Ranger” bit was right up there with when he compared himself to Rocky Balboa. Also, the Lone Ranger had a mask over his eyes.
