Happy World Press Freedom Day, and oh, by the way, there’s a guy in the White House that attacks our media every single day. During one of the Trump administration’s daily briefings to reporters on the potentially deadly COVID-19 outbreak that the public watches to garner information on the pandemic, our crazy-time president went off-the-rails. While Trump was speaking to a panicked nation, the Dow was plunging. Americans are scared with 401ks turning into dust, unemployment suddenly through the roof, and grocery stores running out of goods due to hoarding.
Forty million people in California have been ordered to stay at home indefinitely as it grapples with the growing novel coronavirus epidemic while trying to flatten the COVID-19 curve.
What the country wants right now is facts and a calm leader, not a thin-skinned, narcissistic rage machine. Trump, unfortunately, is incapable of calming the country’s population.
NBC News White House correspondent Peter Alexander was the target of Trump’s wrath during the presser after he asked whether perhaps Trump’s tendency to put a positive spin on the situation might be giving Americans a false sense of security, and what the president would say to Americans watching right now who are scared.

Trump promptly lashed out at Alexander. “I say that you are a terrible reporter,” the president said. “That’s what I say. I think that’s a very nasty question, and I think it’s a very bad signal that you’re putting out to the American people.”

Trump wasn’t done, though. A reporter asked the president if he thought it’s appropriate for him to attack reporters at a time like this.
The thin-skinned president shot back, “I think that Peter is not a good journalist when it comes to fairness.”

Trump is incapable of thinking of others during a time of need when the entire US population needs a soothing, even-tempered voice. That’s not who Trump is. The former frozen steak salesman has only thought of himself for his entire life. The shit Trump pulls might appease his followers who see him as their orange-colored pissdaddy, but they are only a fraction of the US.
