Former President Donald Trump isn’t taking the news well that the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol by a mob of his supporters announced on Monday that they’re issuing five new subpoenas. The latest batch focuses on the organizers and the funding of the “Stop the Steal” rallies, including Roger Stone and Alex Jones. In a statement tweeted out by his spokesperson to circumvent his ban on the behemoth social site, the twice-impeached one-term president called election day the actual “insurrection.” Trump has said this before, and it was even fact-checked by the Associated Press.
Trump claimed the bipartisan committee isn’t bipartisan because “Cheney and Kinzinger are not Republicans!” even though they are Republicans. Trump complained that the committee is “refusing to even discuss the root cause of that protest, which was the insurrection that took place during the November 3rd Presidential Election.”
“We had a Rigged and Stolen Election in our Country, the proof is voluminous and everywhere, but the Democrats refuse to even mention or discuss it,” Trump falsely said. “It’s called Cancel Culture, and until that is done, this Country will never heal!”

Trump knows there was no insurrection on election day. His narcissistic brain cannot allow him to admit defeat after President Joe Biden won the popular and electoral votes. The AP took the time to explain the difference between the fair and secure election and the mob of Trump supporters that stormed the Capitol to stop the peaceful transition of power.
“The rioters smashed windows, broke through barricades, and overwhelmed law enforcement in the most egregious attack on the Capitol since the War of 1812,” the AP reported. “Some brandished weapons; others wore tactical gear. Some chanted “Hang Mike Pence!” after the then-vice president said he did not have the power to unilaterally overturn Biden’s win. Others hunted lawmakers, demanding to know the whereabouts of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and others. Outside, a makeshift gallows was erected, complete with a noose.”
So, not the same thing.
