Trump Spends Time During COVID-19 Presser Bragging That He’s “Number One On Facebook, Did You Know? I Just Found Out”

It was just yesterday that some reporters claimed that Donald Trump seems to have changed his tone during the coronavirus outbreak briefing, but now it’s Wednesday so you can forget about all that Tuesday stuff. The former frozen steak salesman kicked off today’s presser to talk endlessly about drug cartels while also touting his ego-wall on the Southern border that isn’t actually near completion.

Then, Trump’s massive ego needed to be stroked, so the president bragged about the number of people following him on Facebook. Cristiano Ronaldo is the most followed individual on Facebook, but Trump falsely said that he was.

“Did you know I was number one on Facebook?” Trump said. “I just found out I’m number one on Facebook. I thought that was very nice, for whatever it means.”

Watch:

The number of US coronavirus cases skyrocketed past 200,000 on Wednesday, and at least 4,669 have died from the disease, and yet the president is bragging about his Facebook following. The White House has confirmed that its own modeling shows that between 100,000 and 240,000 Americans are likely to die before the crisis is over, even if people heed social distancing guidelines. But let’s talk about Facebook followers, right?

Trump went from drug cartels, to his wall, to now he’s number one on Facebook. This is precisely why networks have been cutting away from Trump’s daily briefing. CNN did that again today, too, just as they did on Tuesday. Americans are suddenly finding themselves unemployed, forced to self-isolate to flatten the coronavirus curve, and thousands of United States citizens have died.

But, let’s take a break from updating us on the pandemic to hear about how popular the former reality show star is. Trump is not holding briefings, but he has inadvertently confirmed that they’re nothing more than MAGA rallies.
